Hey true crime divas and dudes. Welcome to the after show for Shanquella Robinson. This is gonna be quite the after show. It's gonna be quite the after show. So I know you're chomping at the bit to hear about this name change. Yes. So let's start there. So DaeJhanae Jackson, who is the one in the video that is assaulting Shanquella, she actually changed her name to Imani Green, and she moved to a different town and assumed a new identity and started her life over. I wonder why. Yeah. And, I think that it is, A, such a scummy fucking thing. Like, you can murder somebody, and just change your name, move away to somewhere new, and pretend like it never happened, and you have left this family just devastated, still picking up the pieces, still seeking justice five years later, not getting anywhere, and just heartache every day, day in and day out. And you're just living your best life as if nothing happened. You have faced not a single consequence. And here's another thing about the name change When Shanquella's mom started all the civil suits, one of the reasons that Imani Green gave for dropping that suit is that it had her old name on it. She's like, "That's not even me anymore. I'm Imani Green now, so you can't bring charges against me." I'm sorry. In legal terms, they will use... And I know this, 'cause I've had six different last names. Mm-hmm. I have not been married six times, people. I'm just saying, just for various reasons, I've had six different last names. And when it comes to legal stuff, they want to know every single one, and you have to disclose every single one. So that shouldn't even be an issue. But what I wanna say is, at the very least, there is video evidence that she committed assault, right? Mm-hmm. And I understand that countries don't extradite for charges like assault, right? Mm-hmm. They only do it for charges like murder- Mm-hmm rape, um, like more severe charges. And I get that the crime happened in Mexico, so it has to be extradited to Mexico to be charged. They're not gonna charge her in North Carolina. Right. Right? It has to be done in Mexico. And they're not gonna extradite her on assault. Mm-hmm. But, I mean, yeah, she moved and she changed her name and probably her appearance and everything, because at the very least, everyone can see what a nasty piece of work she is- Mm-hmm in the video. Yeah, and thankfully the judge denied that, and the judge was like, "Uh, no, this is still you." It's still you, you dumb bitch, just 'cause you changed your name. Right? I can't believe she actually thought she had a leg to stand on with the whole name change thing. I mean, I don't credit her with much- Much- brain power anyway. Right. Period. There's no sense about her. She's been beating the- How obtuse can you be on vacation with your friends, beating the crap out of somebody And you carry on when they're not fighting back. Yeah. And you beat them to the point where they're Slow to respond or- Yeah. She was unconscious. Yeah. You're a nasty piece of work anyway. Yeah. And you, continue while people are filming and the other people... And obviously DaeJhanae, she's the only one that we know for sure assaulted her from the video. But they're guilty- We don't know by association. Right. Whether they were in the room or not, how big was this villa? Are you telling me the others couldn't hear it going on and wouldn't come and investigate? And as for the person holding the video camera, you're as nasty as, um, Imani or whatever the hell she wants to call herself today. You're as nasty as her, because not only are you not doing anything to help, It's even worse. It's even- recording it is even fucking worse. Like, stop Exactly, and so I'm glad you brought this up because it was actually a male. Okay. And the guy holding the camera and filming, the one that said, "Quilla, can you at least fight back?" Was her closest friend there. They had been close friends for years, and this friend had actually traveled and went on vacations and trips with Shanquella and her family. Yeah. See, and I get the impression with him filming it and saying, "Hey, can't you fight back?" It almost sounds like he's trying to direct a movie, and he's thinking, "Well, this is gonna be good social media. I'm gonna get a viral video out of this. Film two girls fighting, one naked." So it's, like he was trying to, oh, coach her, "Hey, fight back so I get a better freaking shot." And I'm glad you brought that up. I'm so mad. Because- no, and I am, too. But I've had years to process this. You just learned about it all today. I just learned it right now, and I wanna find this person right now and- I was discussing this with a friend, and we were just like... 'Cause we don't know why this happened. We don't know what led up to this. Right. We don't know the- What the argument was we know fucking nothing, but- And no one's ever gonna say. No. And, So we have to wonder. We have to speculate. While the fight happened, for whatever reason, whether there was jealousy, animosity, whatever, but the fight is one thing, and the recording of the fight is a totally separate thing. What is the motive for recording? Well, like I say, with him encouraging her, I don't feel like he felt that it was gonna get to the point that it got to insofar as, needing medical assistance. I think that a guy filming two girls fighting, he thinks he's got, nice piece of footage, and that's why he's encouraging her. But honestly, anybody, anybody that stands by and films any crime- Mm-hmm or any, assault especially- Mm-hmm and that stands by and films it instead of either intervening or calling the authorities or something, is a piece of fucking shit. Yeah, and they're just as guilty. And it happens all the time. Yeah, it does. And I just wonder if the motivation to film it was like Some sicko sex thing That's what I'm saying. And like- Two girls fighting, one of them's naked I wonder if it was, like, something that they were gonna post somewhere like OnlyFans and try to make money off of it. That's why he was coaching her to fight back, so it made for a better video. Right. That's my opinion. But if that was the case, would you not want everybody to be in on it? Like, it, it's clear that Shanquella was not in on this and was not expecting this at all. It kind of seemed like they just drug her out of a deep sleep. She was in the bed, had no idea that it was coming. Or just got out the shower or something. Right. Yeah. Um, and here's another thing that occurred to me. So this was a villa in Cabo that cost thousands of dollars a night to rent, right? This is another Significant point that can change But I, I think I'm going in a different direction to you. Um, if you are the owner of that villa and you rent it out, you would have security cameras. Oh, yes. Right? Yes, yes, yes. Inside as well as outside. Mm-hmm. Now, maybe due to privacy laws, you can't have them in the bedroom. Mm-hmm. Um, so I'm not saying there was necessarily one in the bedroom where this fight took place, but I am saying that you bet your life they've got some kind of security cameras inside to make sure that their thousands of dollars a night villa isn't being wrecked by the, people renting it. Did nobody look at any footage from that? Well, and here's another thing about the villa, the company over the villa. They weren't necessarily cooperative. I wouldn't say that they directly impeded the investigation, but they didn't go out of their way to help either. So as one example, Shanquella's father called them multiple times trying to get in contact with somebody to see what information he could glean about this incident. And he called three or four times, and he was basically blown off and they pretended like, "Oh, we don't speak English. We can't understand you." Even though you have people from the United States- Oh of America traveling there constantly. I bet if I was trying to book your villa and pay you thousands of dollars, you'd understand me. And here's the thing. He called back under other pretenses, not about the case, and suddenly they spoke English very well. Yeah, I'm sure they did. So they were not all that forthcoming or helpful, the, the people of the villa. And I un- I, I don't justify this, but I understand why, because that's very bad publicity. Nobody wants to go stay in a villa where somebody has been murdered. Murdered. But- And there must have been damage to the villa. You can't beat the crap out of somebody that severely and not cause some kind of damage. Right, and you had the paramedics coming in, and there's no way... I mean, there had to be fallout from all of that. There's just no way there wasn't. I would be very surprised if there weren't security cameras inside the main living areas of that villa, if your villa's worth that much. And if you have people in their young 20s, I'm not saying that every 20-year-old is irresponsible, but there's a reason that there are laws in the United States where like, oh, you need to be 25 years old to rent this. It's horrendous. Yes, absolutely So I think you're right. I would be shocked if there wasn't security cameras and either, A, maybe they did show some footage that... and we're just not privy to it, or B, maybe they didn't wanna provide it 'cause it made them look bad. I don't know. But yeah, I think you're right. There's gotta be some security cameras somewhere. 'Cause I'm thinking even if they didn't have them in the bedroom, there's a good chance that this argument didn't start in the bedroom. I'm thinking that in some kind of communal area, something went down that pissed people off, and then after she went to take a shower, go to bed, whatever it was, she was attacked in the bedroom. But I think there has to be something on a camera in the living area or the communal areas that shows some kind of disagreement starting. I agree. Something led up to this. Yeah. And we just, don't know. And the villa, obviously, they have more information than they've shared. 100%. But yeah, speaking of the villa and how very expensive it was We're going there next week? Yes. Oh. I wish. Great. It was reported that Shanquella was a last-minute addition to this trip. She was not one of the original people that was gonna go. Talk about fate. We don't know why exactly that happened. We don't know why it played out that way, but we do know that she was a last-minute addition, and also that she footed most of the bill. She paid for the private chef. She paid for most of the villa. Sounds like that's why she was the last-minute addition. Right. Right. That- Well, we've booked this villa and we don't quite have enough funds. Who do we know that does? Right, and that's what we can reasonably conclude because Shanquella, as we discussed, was a very successful businesswoman. I like these people less and less the more we talk. I know. So not only, like, did she foot the bill for all of this, and she's just trying to enjoy a nice vacation, she's the reason that you guys are all even here and able to enjoy this vacation. And now you fucking murdered her? Like, talk about adding insult to injury. And that's one of the things that's, like, speculated. We don't know. But it's speculated that maybe there was some kind of argument over money or finances because supposedly She had put a credit card on file at the villa for incidentals. And some of the people that were staying with her were charging to that card without her consent, without her knowledge, and without her permission. Oh my God, people, be very careful who you go on vacation with. Yes. So this is speculation. We don't know if this is what caused the fight, but that behavior was happening, and it kinda seems like they were just using her as a cash cow. Right. Yeah, and then like you say, last-minute addition, but she picks up the tab. They obviously were like, "Oh, this is gonna cost more than we thought. Are we gonna run out of money?" Mm-hmm. Absolutely. And oh, now that she's coming, her credit card's on file, I'm gonna do this, that, and the other. They were probably charging room service, massages. I mean, who knows? And then maybe she found out about it. You know, well, this is speculation, but I mean, that paints a pretty good picture. Yeah. But there's a mixture of men and women in this. Mm-hmm. My guess is it's something to do with a hookup or a guy or... Because If you were the one footing the bill and you got into an argument with them for charging stuff to it, the person that's in the wrong charging stuff to it is not likely to be the attacker. Do you know what I'm saying? Like, if you said that Shanquella was charging up a bunch of stuff and Demani or whatever her name was, was the one paying the bill, how there could be, like, Demani would attack her because she's been wronged, right? Right. Right. Whereas I'm saying that it doesn't seem to work the other way around. I don't think that's something that people would get that violent over. Most murders are caused due to, um, romantic- That was another speculated thing, but we just don't know all the dynamics of those relationships. I bet it was over a guy. Of course it would've been, because this happens so often. Whoever he is, I don't care if he's Jesus Christ- He's not worth it he's not worth it. Nope. I promise you. Well, and if he's playing two women, he's 100% not worth it. Neither of you need him. And that's a good theory. And another theory is, is that there was some kind of longstanding tension between Imani and Shanquella, and it seems like Imani was kind of jealous that Shanquella was so successful. Successful. Yeah. And Imani was kind of just like a lowlife scumbag going nowhere type of person. Um, and it may have been a combination of all of these things for all we know. Yeah. Yeah maybe she was jealous she was running up the credit card and she was flirting with her boyfriend. Right. She doesn't sound like a very nice person. I mean, yeah, she murdered somebody, so. Right. I mean, she's capable of anything. Well, she beat somebody with her hands to the point where their spine snapped. Mm-hmm. Ew. Okay, and so that's my next point that I wanna discuss is the video. I don't want you to watch it, but it's very hard. Like, I can't overstate just what an unbalanced, unfair fight this is. Does she hit her with anything other than her hands and her feet? It's just her hands, and she's kicking her in the video, but it, like, it is hard. It is full punches. It is full kicks. And Shanquella is not even upright. Shanquella is on the ground, like sitting, like knee, on her knees at one point, on her, sitting on her butt at one point with her hands, like, over her head. She's trying to, you know, block the attacks. And Imani is just not deterred. She just keeps wailing on her, full force. And I mean, even without watching the video- She had an internal decapitation. It takes some serious force to if she didn't hit her with anything, that has to have been a kick, I would think Right, and those types of injuries, as we discussed, are found in, like, really high-speed car crashes. So that shows- Isn't it the same injury you can get diving into a swimming pool that's too- Yes shallow? Yes. The whole assault was not captured on video. Right. It was just a snippet. I wonder if maybe she slammed her head up against, like, a, a bed or some other heavy piece of furniture or something. My God. We don't know, but it was something very traumatic in any case. And that first doctor, how, how did she not discover that there was something awry that bad? I think that maybe she had an inkling, but it was just her against these six other people who were probably- I don't care. You're a medical professional. Yeah. You are sworn to help people no matter what. I don't care. I agree. If you're intimidated by those people, then say, "Okay, everything's fine," leave the room, and then call the police. I agree. She dropped the ball. I agree that she definitely dropped the ball in some capacity, but also, there was so much time that these people had before they even called a doctor. I mean, they had time to completely stage the scene. They obviously had put Shanquella in the bed and, like, covered her up. Who knows? Maybe they had covered up some bruises with makeup. We don't know. But I'm saying if her spine was broken to the point where she couldn't hold her head up, that is something I don't think a doctor should miss. I agree. Yeah, I agree. But- Because, because at the very least, she would've said, "Sit up, I need to hear your lungs." Mm-hmm. Well, at that point, when the head's wobbling around- Yeah I mean, she said that she was, like- Unresponsive unresponsive, so that would s- I, I just... I don't know. I think she dropped the ball. I think that it was a case of, like, she was, it was six against one, and she was scared to do it, but that doesn't justify it. Then when you leave, you do something. Yeah. Yeah, she should've. She definitely should've. Aren't they, what's it called, mandated reporters? Well, I don't know how that works in Mexico. Oh, that's true. It may not have been as a daycare I did forget it's Mexico, but still. But the right thing to do would have been to call, you know, emergency medical services. She should've been alarmed enough that when she left, she brought somebody's attention to it just in case, for later, for something. If somebody's unresponsive, having trouble breathing- Yeah yeah, I, I agree. She, she dropped the ball 100%. And I think that maybe if somebody had been called, which, and that's a traumatic injury, like it's catastrophic, the internal decapitation. But who knows if that's actually what happened in the video. Maybe that happened after. Maybe that happened when they were trying to move her, if they were trying to move her. I mean, who knows? There are just so many things that we don't know. And that brings up another good point is there are so many questions because this case has not even been heard in a court. We have not even gotten witness statements from all of these people. That is the bare minimum. I wanna, I wanna follow it now. I wanna know. Yeah. I wanna know that something was done. I mean, obviously they could never pay $100 million, but at this point I'm sure that if, if you can't see them behind bars, at least having them found guilty of something, even in a civil court, is- It's something. It's something. It's some kind of holding them responsible It's something, but it, not what it should be. I mean, they should have been extradited to Mexico, and there should have been a formal trial, and they should all be behind bars, every single one of them- Yeah who stood there and watched this. You know, that happened. Do you think if it was the other way round that the US would be extraditing them from Mexico? 'Cause I do. Yeah, I think so. But I do think that Mexico did their part, too. I mean, they put out an arrest warrant for Imani/Dejanay- Right early on, but the US wouldn't cooperate because like, "Oh, we don't have enough evidence," even though there's a fucking video. Yeah. I'm just thinking that, you know, the, the US aren't willing to give up US citizens to a Mexican court. But if it was the other way around and to, you know, some Mexicans have come into America and murdered somebody and gone back to Mexico, that the US probably has more power and authority to get people back over here to stand trial. Yeah, definitely. And I think, the conversation needs to be had, is this because Shanquella is a Black woman? Yeah. Is it because she is a Black woman that the US failed to take action? If this was a pretty little blonde girl, white girl, like Gabby Petito, do you think the US would have extradited? Because I think so. Yeah. And I think that it is, like I said, one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in, in recent history So far. I mean, it's still fairly new, and like I said, if she wins the civil suit, sometimes that makes the criminal courts have to take notice. I hope it does. God, I hope... I mean, this happened in 2022. It's now 2026. So her family has been fighting this fight for four years. So on top of all of their grief and all of the unanswered questions and knowing that these six people are out there living their lives and following their dreams and getting their educations and doing whatever they wanna do, I mean, they've been fighting on top of having to live with all this for four years, and they continue to do so, and I don't know how they do it So, okay, this is my last point. Um, there is a charge in Mexico called femicide, and that's for a murder of a woman, basically, specifically a woman. You've murdered somebody because they are a woman. That was your motivation. And I just wonder if that kinda leans more into it was possibly a romantic thing because if there was some jealousy, you know, Shanquella was flirting with a guy or Imani was flirting with a guy, and there was some kind of tension there over a romantic relationship, if that was why they classified this as femicide Hmm. Are there different, like, consequences, feminicide, homicide, or is it just different? That, that's a good question. I'm not sure. We should look into that. But I do think that it's great that Mexico has that because violence and murders against women because they are women happen constantly. Mm-hmm. And it makes sense with homicide being hom- Mm-hmm men. Mm-hmm. Oh, that's interesting. Well- I hope they spend the rest of their days in a Mexican prison. I hope they do, too. I, I think definitely that Daejhanae/Imani deserves life because she is clearly, from the video- Her next name change should be her inmate number Right? Not even a name, a number. Inmate number 1273547. The others, perhaps not as harsh of a punishment, perhaps not life, but I don't wanna see them get a slap on the wrist and just get, like, probation. Some kind of consequence, for sure. Yeah. Especially the person filming. I just wanna punch them. Yeah. He was a real piece of shit. A man especially, like, seeing violence and having the ability to just step in and probably very easily break it up, to just not, makes this so much worse. And so the two different autopsies, is that something you did wanna cover? We covered it a little. Um- I mean, I get what you're saying. If time's passed and embalming has taken place, it must be harder, and they'd probably rather say undetermined than say something they're not sure of. And I get that, and that's fair. However, you still have Mexico's autopsy, which was done immediately before the embalming, and therefore, that one should be the one that is relied upon when we're deciding, okay, are we gonna extradite or not? Not one that happened in North Carolina after the body has been embalmed after several days. But surely they could still see that broken spine, There's no, yeah, there's no way they didn't see it, and I think they could see it. They just couldn't say- And I don't think that happens by accident. It definitely doesn't happen by accident, no. But I think they just, their findings were like, "We can't say for sure if this happened." Um, as a result of a homicide, an accident, or natural causes. Which, like I understand, but again, it- to me, it doesn't really matter. Mexico has already performed the autopsy. You've got the evidence. So- It's right there why was there a second autopsy? Do we know? Just because they wanted an American one. Just because they wanted an American one, I guess, which I understand, but also the body's been embalmed. It's days later. How credible is this? They do autopsies on bodies that they dig up years later. That they exhume. Right, yeah. So I just, I just think that if, if the main injury was that atlas, that that would've been consistent in both autopsies. Right. No amount of embalming or increased bruising or whatever is gonna cover up the fact that that bone's broken. Mm-hmm. And that cannot happen just willy fucking nilly. Right. And also, hello, there's a video of an assault. So it, it's infuriating that nothing came of this criminally. Very, very much so. All right. Well So that's the case of Shanquella Robinson. We will definitely follow this, follow that civil suit, um, and update you guys. Hopefully they get something. Something. Anything. Anything. Especially Amani. Mm-hmm. All right.
